Tapered Roller Bearing
FAG TAROL units are double-row tapered roller bearing units supplied pre-set for clearance, greased, and sealed, making them ready for mounting. They are hydraulically pressed onto wheelset shaft journals and are widely used in locomotives, freight wagons, and passenger cars. Installation is quick and simple, achieved in a single pressing operation that ensures correct axial clearance.
TAROL units come with proven greases: EN 12081-certified grease for metric sizes and AAR-approved grease for inch sizes. Optional relubrication holes can be provided with intervals defined by the application. Schaeffler supplies TAROL units in both metric and inch sizes for standard rail vehicle shafts, with special sizes, replacement parts, and adapters available on request.
Additional guidance is provided in TPI 156 and the Mounting Handbook MH 1. For safe operation, personnel must follow the user manual and can consult Schaeffler for further technical support.
